The Nineteenth Day

November 9: Yesterday I closed on a house!

I have been going mad making appointments, arranging for utilities, getting repairs done, and on and on.

Today I was able to put a sock on my left foot without an aid. This is huge!

What's it all about?

This blog was initially primarily focused on one book: Arthritis Rx (see link below). I have significant arthritis in both knees and have recently determined that it has crept into my hands and hips (especially right hip) as well.

I did not have the resources to pursue knee surgery. I have also become aware of the limitations of that treatment. Right now I am making the most of what is possible for me.

Therefore, I look for ways to deal with this arthritis that are not expensive, do not require doctors (preferably), that do not involve the use of drugs that may be harmful down the line. My primary aim is to regain sufficient mobility to enjoy my life.

The book, Arthritis Rx, is the only one I have found that really offers what I want in a book: a program I can follow that has been tested rigorously on others. The program includes diet, exercise, and supplements. I followed it off and on for a while and did find it helpful but not enough. Perhaps because I did not lose enough weight, and while the Arthritis Rx exercises are good they are not enough to help me regain the mobility I need to be more active overall.

Generally, this is now a journal of treating arthritis without surgery but possibly including surgery. Finding what helps me.
