Back to the Coast

Yesterday I did the east-west ranch hike in Cambria again. This time I was with my grandson and it was not foggy, but it was very windy and cold. We did it in one hour, which for me is respectable and, I think, less than the last time. I did not feel the discomfort I felt the last time, although my hip acted up a bit near the end. Gives me hope.

I am a bit stiff today and my right hip is hurting again. It does seem like I pay for these hikes on the following day. Worth it, of course.

I had osteoarthritis in my right hip and I am now pain free.
I like to share my tips on my blog http://allnaturalremedy.blogspot.com

Hi Judith! I found your blog earlier today and have been reading through it. I'm 67 and have a lot of the same issues. No major knee problems (thank God!), but arthritis pain in both hips, both shoulders, and sometimes my hands. I had shoulder surgery on my left shoulder almost 4 years ago, and have rehabbed the right one myself (temporarily, I'm sure) just recently. I still have some pain in either or both occasionally, but nothing like the intense pain that I had before. I've found some good "gentle movement" exercises for my hips, and currently I'm walking about 10 minutes 4x a week, and doing deep water exercises at the Y pool 5x a week. I see that your relentless exercise program (I don't know if I will be as dedicated as you have been) has helped some, but not entirely. Not sure if that's encouraging or not as I was hoping that I could "cure" myself. LOL Stay strong, and I will keep checking in. You have given me some good ideas and some good incentive.

Thanks, Michelle! What is often so frustrating, I have found, is that arthritis affects people so differently and that there are no treatments that are effective for everyone. I love hearing from others who also make their own choices, don't just follow.

Hi: Great blog, appreciate all you have put together. I am a pharmacist and have recently put together a website where I give audio presentations of Pharmacy Topics and Medication Specific Counseling Sessions. I teach a class once monthly at the hospital that I work at on Bone and Joint Pain Medication Options.

I hope some of this might be helpful!
